At first when I read this quote I thought about an 18 year old telling his parents that he is an adult now and he can do whatever he wants. You know, that arogant attitude that leads to him falling flat on his face. I kinda saw it as Christian telling the world, "well I can do whatever I want because God will forgive me." Of course that's not what this quote is saying but it took me a while to really figure it out and own it. I thought about the vision and the vow and the line that says, they had a blood transfusion with Jesus...He breathes in, they breathe out. Now that's what being madly in love with God is all about. To be totally in step with the spirit, to no longer exhist except as an extension of Him. Only then can you do whatever you want because it will be without a doubt exactly what God wants. Can you imagine if the Christian Community lived this way? Non-believers wouldn't be able to resist or fight back with excuses...they would be so attracted to what God has for them because our actions would be God at work. Every knee would indeed bow down because God's pressence would be so overwhelming. To be that in Love with God would kill us...and that's what needs to happen!!!
I had a Bible school teacher say something similar. She said, "If you are truly submitted to God, then your will is linked to His will, and when you are facing decision you should just make up your mind and do it. If you are truly submitted to Him, it will be in line with His will."
So I made up my mind and dropped out of Bible school the next day.
That is a great quote. To be madly in love with someone requires an unconsious willingness to please them. When that person happens to be your Lord and Savior, then dieing to oneself to completely take on the nature and character of Him is not only reasonable, but rewardingly necessary. Our lives will come full circle if we begin to see the reflection of Jesus in the mirrows we look into. Life becomes meaningful!
